FAQ - Learn Russian with NovaMova

How will you determine my level of Russian?

For those who wish to take a language course the school offers an entry test, which gives us an idea of the student’s level. This test consists of two steps. First we ask our students to take an online test to determine their level of fluency. Next step is an oral examination with an instructor to confirm the level of fluency.

For the examination of fluency in Russian as a foreign language the school uses typical Tests for Russian as a Foreign Language from the Russian state testing system in Russian language for foreign citizens.

Evaluation is made according to a 100-point system and includes an assessment of lexical and grammatical knowledge as well as skills and abilities in reading, speaking, writing, and listening.

How many levels do you have?

We offer language programs for all levels of knowledge of the language. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, we'll find the course that is right for you.

How is the student’s progress being monitored?

Every week, students are given weekly tests. Upon completion of a given unit, a review is made to evaluate progress, correct mistakes, and optimize further study.

At the end of the course the student completes a final test, which includes an evaluation of knowledge in all lexical/grammatical and communicatory topics of the program, as well as an assessment of skills and abilities in reading, speaking, writing, and listening.

What if the level of the class is too low or too high?

If during the initial lessons a student feels that a program being offered is too easy or too difficult, our program managers will offer a more suitable option.

Will I receive a Certificate at the end of the course?

If the final test is passed successfully, the Certificate of Completion is presented to the student. The Certificate indicates the name of the course, dates when the course was taken, the level, and the number of academic hours. The Certificate is issued in the language being learned. On the other side of the Certificate there is a description of student’s language achievements.
